What is Gramps?
Gramps keeps family-history research in a structured database. Record people, family relationships, places and events, then connect the supporting sources, citations, notes and media. Its person lists and ancestry views help you examine the information you have collected rather than leaving it scattered across separate documents.
This entry links to the publisher’s Intel Mac DMG for Gramps 6.0.8. A separate Apple Silicon package is available on the same official release page; choose the package that matches your Mac. Back up existing family trees before upgrading, as the release notes advise.
Some features depend on additional components: the publisher documents that Geography view needs osmgpsmap and three Graphviz-based reports cannot run without Graphviz. The historical screenshot below illustrates the Windows interface, not the current Mac release; appearance on macOS differs.
