What is HeidiSQL?
HeidiSQL puts database connections, table data and SQL queries in one graphical workspace. Use it to inspect a schema, change records in a grid or write queries with syntax highlighting and code completion. It connects to MariaDB, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Interbase and Firebird, so you can work with several database systems without switching clients.
For moving data, HeidiSQL can generate SQL exports, import text files and export table rows to formats including CSV and JSON. Multiple connections can stay open in one window. SSH tunnelling and SSL connection settings are available for supported connections.
HeidiSQL is a client, not a replacement for a database server: you need a supported server to connect to, or a SQLite database file. The linked package is the stable Windows x64 EXE installer, not the separate portable ZIP or v13 preview. The publisher lists Windows 11 x64 compatibility and notes minor issues on Windows 10 x64; Windows-on-Arm uses emulation.
What it offers
- Browse and edit table data in a grid, and create or change database tables.
- Write SQL queries with customizable syntax highlighting and code completion.
- Keep multiple database connections open in one window.
- Generate SQL exports, import text files and export rows as CSV or JSON.
- Use SSH tunnels or SSL settings for supported database connections.
Good to know
- Requires a supported database server or a SQLite database file; it is a database client rather than a server.
- The publisher reports minor issues on Windows 10 x64. Windows-on-Arm runs the x64 application through emulation.
