idealCircuit for Windows
Explore analog circuits with ideal switches, diodes and simplified component models in idealCircuit for Windows. The publisher provides a ZIP with the program, manual and examples.
- Operating system
- Windows; Softonic's historical version 1 listing names Windows Vista
- Architecture
- Not specified in the reviewed publisher sources
- Download package
- ZIP archive; publisher lists ic.exe, manual.pdf and examples
Publisher version 1.4 is dated 2021-08-08. Modern Windows compatibility was not verified; do not infer architecture from the separate NL/NL5 product description.

What is idealCircuit?
idealCircuit is an analog circuit simulator for exploring how a circuit works before moving to detailed device models. It uses ideal components, such as switches with zero resistance when closed and infinite resistance when open, so students can work with textbook-style schematics and engineers can evaluate a design concept without choosing a specific commercial part for every component.
The interface provides schematic, transient and AC work areas. The publisher's ZIP is listed as containing ic.exe, a PDF manual and example circuits. The download linked here is the publisher's version 1.4, dated August 8, 2021; Softonic's older listing still describes version 1.
The simplified models are a deliberate trade-off: idealCircuit has fewer components, models and features than NL5, and the publisher directs detailed analysis to standard SPICE-based tools. Windows is documented by the source listing, but current Windows 10/11 compatibility and CPU architecture are not established by the sources used here. The gallery screenshot illustrates historical application UI, not a verified run of version 1.4.
What it offers
- Model analog circuits using ideal switches, ideal diodes and other simplified components.
- Explore textbook schematics without selecting a specific manufacturer part for each diode or amplifier.
- Use schematic, transient and AC work areas visible in the source gallery.
- Refer to the PDF manual and example circuits listed in the publisher's ZIP package.
Good to know
- Fewer components, models and features than NL5; simplified ideal models do not replace detailed SPICE-based analysis.
- The reviewed sources do not establish Windows 10/11 compatibility or CPU architecture; Softonic's Windows Vista listing refers to an older release.
