What is Jarte?
Jarte is a word processor for letters, notes and other formatted documents. Its tabbed workspace keeps several documents within reach, while font and paragraph controls, pictures, tables, spell checking and print preview cover everyday writing tasks. It can also export documents to HTML or PDF.
The linked publisher EXE installs Jarte Plus 6.2. Although older pages still describe Plus as a paid upgrade, the publisher store explicitly says Jarte Plus is now free. The publisher also offers a separate portable ZIP for manual setup; this page links to the normal installer, not that ZIP.
Compatibility needs attention before choosing Jarte for a newer PC. The publisher lists Windows XP through Windows 10, in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions, and describes Jarte as using the WordPad editing engine. These sources do not confirm Windows 11 support. DOCX is another boundary: the publisher documents opening it with the old Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, but saving edits as RTF or DOC rather than DOCX. Do not choose this entry on the assumption of a modern DOCX round-trip workflow.
