What is KeyStore Explorer?
KeyStore Explorer gives developers a graphical workspace for keys, certificates and Java keystores. Open a keystore, inspect its entries, generate key pairs or import and export certificates without assembling each operation as a keytool command. It can also generate certificate signing requests, sign JAR files and work with JWT signatures.
Supported keystore types include PKCS #12, JKS, JCEKS, BKS, UBER, BCFKS, PEM and IBM CMS KDB. Conversion between supported types helps when moving key material between tools. Certificate detail views and access to the current user's Windows Root Certificate Store provide additional ways to inspect certificate material.
The linked Windows EXE includes a custom Java runtime. Version 5.7.0 uses a 64-bit Windows launcher; it is not a 32-bit Windows option. The separate no-JRE package requires an installed Java 17 or newer runtime. The publisher screenshot below illustrates the Windows keystore table in version 5.5.0, not the current release.
What it offers
- Create, open and convert supported keystores, including PKCS #12, JKS, PEM and IBM CMS KDB.
- Generate key pairs and certificate signing requests; import and export keys and certificates.
- Inspect X.509 certificate details and access the current user's Windows Root Certificate Store.
- Sign and verify JAR files, JWTs and PKCS #7/CMS files.
- Manage keystore passwords with the built-in password manager.
Good to know
- Version 5.7.0 uses a 64-bit Windows launcher, so this package is not a 32-bit Windows option.
- The separate no-JRE installer requires Java 17 or newer to be installed separately; the linked installer bundles its runtime.
