What is KiTTY?
KiTTY is a Windows SSH and Telnet client derived from PuTTY 0.76. It is aimed at users who manage remote terminal sessions and want additional ways to organize saved connections or automate repeated commands. Session filtering, a session launcher and predefined command shortcuts help with recurring connections; logon scripts and locally saved scripts can automate work inside a remote session.
The download linked here is the publisher’s 0.76.1.13 ZIP binary archive on GitHub, not an installer. KiTTY is designed for Windows only. Its normal configuration mode stores sessions, host keys and settings in the Windows registry; directory-based storage must be configured for portable use. The screenshot is a historical publisher documentation image of the configuration window, not a claim about the exact appearance of this release.
What it offers
- Filter saved sessions and launch connections through the session launcher.
- Use predefined command shortcuts, automatic commands and logon scripts.
- Run a locally saved script in a remote session.
- Customize session windows with tray behavior, transparency and per-session icons.
- Configure directory-based storage instead of the default Windows registry storage.
Good to know
- KiTTY is designed for Windows only; this entry does not provide a macOS or Linux build.
- The normal mode saves configuration in the Windows registry; portable directory storage requires configuration or a dedicated portable build.
