What is Kvile?

Kvile is a desktop HTTP client for developers who keep API requests in .http files. It supports the formats used by JetBrains HTTP Client, VS Code REST Client and Kulala, so request collections can stay as plain-text files alongside a project. Switch between the Monaco source editor and a visual form editor, use environment variables for different endpoints, and inspect previous requests through searchable history.

JavaScript pre- and post-request scripts support assertions and variable extraction. cURL import converts existing commands into the .http workflow, while response comparison helps inspect differences between replies. The publisher describes Kvile as offline-first, with no account requirement or telemetry.

Kvile does not provide built-in cloud sync; teams need to share their collection files through a separate workflow such as Git. This entry links to the publisher’s Windows x64 EXE for version 0.2.2. The screenshot is a historical Windows welcome/workspace view attached to issue #3, not a capture of the current release: its loading-state problem was subsequently listed as fixed in 0.2.2.

What it offers

  • Open JetBrains HTTP Client, VS Code REST Client and Kulala .http files.
  • Switch between Monaco source editing and a GUI form editor.
  • Use multiple environments with variable substitution.
  • Run JavaScript pre- and post-request scripts for assertions and variable extraction.
  • Search SQLite-backed request history, import cURL commands and compare responses.

Good to know

  • No built-in cloud sync; share plain-text collections separately, for example through Git.
