What is Laragon?

Laragon is a Windows desktop environment for developing web applications locally. It brings web servers, databases and language tools into a self-contained folder, with menus for managing services and switching versions. The publisher lists Windows 10 and 11 support. Quick app creates projects such as WordPress and Laravel, while automatic virtual hosts give local projects domain-style addresses instead of localhost subfolders.

Local HTTPS uses self-signed certificates. Laragon also supports multiple versions of tools such as PHP, Apache, MySQL and Node.js, so projects can use different development stacks. To expose bundled PHP, Node.js and Python outside Laragon to other terminals or editors, the release notes describe an explicit Tools > PATH > Add Laragon to PATH action.

The free unlicensed tier is restricted to non-commercial use and displays license reminders. Commercial projects require an appropriate paid commercial license; buying a non-commercial license does not remove that restriction. The linked download is the publisher's Laragon 8.8.0 Windows EXE asset, not the separate updater. The screenshot is the publisher's older v8.0.2 dashboard illustration, not a capture of this release.

What it offers

  • Manage local development services from a desktop dashboard and context menus.
  • Create WordPress, Laravel and other projects with Quick app.
  • Use automatic virtual hosts for local domain-style project URLs.
  • Generate self-signed certificates for local HTTPS development.
  • Keep and switch multiple service versions within a portable, self-contained environment.

Good to know

  • Free unlicensed use is non-commercial only, with license popups; commercial work requires a commercial license.
  • The unlicensed tier has no automatic updates, according to the publisher's pricing page.
  • Bundled PHP, Node.js and Python need the publisher's explicit PATH action to be available in external terminals and editors.
