What is LibreOffice?
LibreOffice brings six desktop tools together: Writer for documents, Calc for spreadsheets, Impress for presentations, Draw for diagrams, Base for databases and Math for formulas. It suits everyday work such as drafting a report, organizing figures or preparing slides without buying an office-suite license. The community-developed project is maintained under The Document Foundation.
LibreOffice can open and save DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files, but that does not guarantee an unchanged document. Complex layouts, some spreadsheet functions and presentation effects can behave differently. Check important files after conversion before sharing them with Microsoft Office users.
The linked download is LibreOffice 26.8.1 for Windows x86-64 in MSI format, not the ARM64 installer or a portable package. The publisher lists Windows 10 and 11, plus Windows Server 2012 through 2022, in its Windows requirements. Installation needs administrator rights. Java is required for some features, notably Base, rather than for most of the suite.
