What is Logisim-evolution?
Logisim-evolution helps you build digital logic circuits and inspect how their signals behave. Place components on a circuit canvas, connect them with wires and organize reusable designs as subcircuits. Its libraries include gates, memory, input/output devices and TTL components, making it useful for learning digital electronics and exploring larger circuit designs.
A chronogram displays signal changes over time. The project also supports VHDL components and electronic-board integration for work that extends beyond the circuit editor. The linked Windows download is the version 5.0.0 x64 MSI installer from the project's GitHub release; its platform-specific package includes a Java runtime. Windows ARM devices have a separate package.
When moving older circuits to version 5.0.0, review RAM line-enable wiring: the release notes warn that projects relying on unconnected line-enable inputs may need to connect those inputs explicitly. The screenshot is the publisher's historical Kubuntu example, labeled version 3.5.0, rather than a capture of the current Windows release.
What it offers
- Draw and simulate digital logic circuits using component libraries and reusable subcircuits.
- Inspect signal changes over time with the chronogram.
- Use libraries containing gates, memory, input/output devices, TTL components and system-on-chip components.
- Work with VHDL components and electronic-board integration.
- Merge selected circuits or export circuits together with their dependent subcircuits in version 5.0.0.
Good to know
- Version 5.0.0 changes RAM line-enable behavior; older projects that relied on unconnected line-enable inputs may need explicit connections.
