What is MailNavigator?
MailNavigator combines an email and news reader with a search tool for local message archives. Its publisher lists archives from clients including Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird and Eudora. It is aimed at finding messages across existing mail collections rather than just searching one open inbox.
Filters can combine OR, AND, NOT and NEAR with parentheses, and can search message content or selected header fields. Results appear in a virtual mailbox with matching terms highlighted. The message navigator can combine results with other archives for more focused searches. An address book and a newsgroup subscription manager are also included.
The publisher catalog lists version 1.16 dated September 21, 2016. Treat it as legacy software: compatibility with current Windows releases, present-day mailbox formats and modern mail-provider authentication has not been established here. It is commercial try-before-you-buy software, not freeware; business use requires the appropriate license.
What it offers
- Search supported legacy email archives from several mail clients.
- Combine Boolean and NEAR filters across message content and selected headers.
- Browse highlighted results in a virtual mailbox and refine searches across merged archives.
- Filter address-book entries and manage newsgroup subscriptions, including headers-only retrieval.
Good to know
- The publisher-listed release is dated 2016; current Windows, mailbox-format and mail-provider authentication compatibility is unconfirmed.
- Commercial try-before-you-buy licensing; the personal license excludes business use.
