What is MemTest?
MemTest by HCI Design checks whether RAM can store and retrieve data reliably while Windows is running. It is intended for investigating memory stability after installing RAM or changing a computer's configuration. Choose how much unused memory to check, start the test and watch the reported errors. Testing continues until you stop it.
This download is the free Windows edition, supplied as a ZIP archive to extract into a folder. It is not the separate bootable MemTest Deluxe edition. The Windows program cannot directly test memory occupied by the operating system, and allocating more memory than is available can cause swapping that slows testing. It also cannot reliably identify which physical memory chip is faulty. Pro adds capabilities such as disk error logging and automated multiple-copy testing; those are not features of this free download.
What it offers

- Use the default unused-RAM setting or specify how many megabytes to test.
- See detected errors in the Windows application interface.
- Continue memory testing until you stop the test or close the program.
