What is Moonphase?

Moonphase displays the Moon's phase for a selected date alongside lunar distance and Sun and Moon rise, transit and set times. Choose a date in its calendar and set your time zone, latitude and longitude, or select a location on the map. It also displays the current phase as an icon in the Windows notification area.

The linked publisher installer is the English Northern Hemisphere edition, version 3.4. The publisher separately offers an older Southern Hemisphere edition, version 3.3; the two should not be treated as interchangeable packages. An optional fishing-calendar overlay marks days derived from the Anglers' Almanac, rather than providing a guarantee of fishing results.

This is legacy software: the publisher identifies version 3.4 with a 2017 copyright, and its troubleshooting advice refers to Windows 7. The publisher documents map-location problems with larger display scaling and a runtime error associated with the Thai date format. Compatibility with current Windows releases has not been established here.

Good to know

  • The linked version 3.4 installer is for the Northern Hemisphere; the publisher's Southern Hemisphere edition is a separate older version 3.3.
  • The publisher documents map-location problems at larger Windows display scaling and runtime error 217 with the Thai date format.
  • Modern Windows compatibility is unverified; the available publisher troubleshooting refers to Windows 7.
