What is Motrix?

Motrix brings file downloads and torrents into one desktop interface. Its task overview shows progress, speed and status, while the download controls let you start, pause, retry and prioritize transfers. It supports HTTP and FTP downloads alongside BitTorrent and magnet links, so you can manage those transfer types in the same application.

Tracker management provides controls for refreshing and managing torrent tracker sources. Plugins extend tasks such as file naming and link resolution, while settings cover appearance, network options and application behavior. A separate Motrix browser extension can send browser downloads to Motrix 2.

The linked package is Motrix 2.1.0 for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 Ventura or later. It is not the Intel build: the publisher provides a separate x64 DMG for Intel Macs. Older macOS releases are outside the listed requirements for this version. Motrix source code is MIT-licensed, but bundled components and third-party assets have separate terms.

Good to know

  • Version 2.1.0 requires macOS 13 Ventura or later; earlier macOS releases are not listed as supported.
