What is Mouse Server?

Mouse Server is the Windows component of Necta’s WiFi Mouse setup. Install it on the computer and use the companion Android or iPhone app to move the pointer, click, scroll, drag items and enter text from your phone. It suits controlling a PC from across the room without a separate wireless mouse or keyboard.

The phone and computer must be able to communicate on the same local network; installing the desktop component alone does not provide phone controls. The publisher tells Windows users to run Mouse Server with administrator privileges, while its FAQ advises granting elevated permissions only when needed. If discovery fails, check whether guest Wi-Fi, client isolation, a VPN or your firewall is separating the devices.

Mouse Server uses TCP port 1978 for its standard connection. Permit it only on a trusted local network rather than exposing it directly to the public internet. Extra WiFi Mouse controllers depend on the phone app edition, platform and server version; installing the server does not unlock every Pro feature.

The download below points to the EXE linked by Necta’s own website. The publisher page does not identify the installer’s CPU architecture, exact version or supported Windows build range, so those details are not asserted here.

What it offers

  • Control the Windows pointer from the companion phone app with clicks, scrolling and drag-and-drop.
  • Use a phone touch area for supported multi-touch gestures, including scrolling and pinch-to-zoom.
  • Send keyboard input and shortcuts such as Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V and Alt+Tab from the phone.
  • Send voice-to-text input from the companion app to the computer.

Good to know

  • Requires the WiFi Mouse companion app and a shared local network; guest-network isolation can prevent connection.
  • Uses TCP port 1978; the publisher warns against exposing the service directly to the public internet.
  • Additional controllers depend on app edition, platform and server version; some require WiFi Mouse Pro.
  • The personal license is for private, non-commercial use on one device; organizational use or additional copies require a commercial license.
  • Publisher instructions call for Windows administrator privileges; its FAQ says to grant elevated permissions only when needed.
