What is PilotEdit?
PilotEdit is a Windows text and code editor for working with large files, comparing revisions and editing files on FTP or SFTP servers. It combines customizable syntax highlighting with regular-expression search and replace, HEX and column editing, and file comparison and merging. Sorting, duplicate-line removal and string extraction help process structured text without manually editing each matching line.
The publisher describes editing 400GB files in quick mode and comparing 100GB files in the x64 edition. These are publisher-stated capabilities, not performance results from our own testing. Version 21.6.0 adds FTP file-change monitoring and automatic reloading.
The linked ZIP is PilotEdit Pro x64 21.6.0 for 64-bit Windows. Pro is commercial software; the publisher also offers a separate free PilotEdit Lite edition with fewer large-file and processing features. The Computer ID license is limited to one machine, and the publisher says changing the machine or hard disk requires a new serial number. The gallery image illustrates PilotEdit's interface and options, not a verified capture of version 21.6.0.
