What is ProScan?
ProScan brings radio-scanner programming, a virtual front-panel display, audio recording and activity logging into one Windows application. It is for supported Uniden radio scanners, including models such as the SDS100, SDS200, BCD436HP and BCD536HP; it is not a document-scanning utility. Its database tools can upload and download scanner data, find duplicates and import supported database formats.
For a remote listening setup, ProScan offers a web server with browser-based remote control, Remote Scanner Over IP and a source client for streaming audio to servers such as Broadcastify, Icecast and Shoutcast. Check the publisher's supported-model list before choosing it: capabilities are model-dependent, and the screenshot shows the publisher's SDS100 virtual display rather than proof of every scanner's interface. RadioReference Web Service import requires a separate premium RadioReference subscription.
The linked publisher ZIP is ProScan 24.15 for Windows 7 SP1 and later. The full application runs as a fully functional 30-day trial; continued use requires a personalized activation key. The publisher lists a US$50 license covering activation on two computers. Its separately offered Free Client is monitor-only and cannot replace the full application's scanner programming or remote-control functions.
What it offers
- Upload and download data to supported Uniden scanners using database programming tools.
- Use a virtual scanner display with keypad and knob controls.
- Record audio and keep scanner activity logs.
- Access remote scanner functions through the web server or Remote Scanner Over IP.
- Stream audio to Broadcastify, Icecast or Shoutcast using the source client.
Good to know
- The full version is a 30-day trial, not permanently free; the publisher lists a US$50 paid license for activation on two computers.
- Scanner support and individual features depend on the Uniden model; this is not software for arbitrary radio scanners or document scanners.
- RadioReference Web Service import requires a separate premium RadioReference subscription.
- The separate Free Client is monitor-only and cannot remote-control or upload/download scanner data.
