What is Psiphon?
Psiphon for Windows helps you reach websites and services restricted by network filtering. The publisher distributes this classic Windows client as a single executable rather than an installer, with support for Windows 10 and 11. It connects to the Psiphon network and can configure local HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS proxies for compatible applications.
Traffic coverage depends on the connection mode. The Windows help states that outside VPN mode, only applications using the local proxies are routed through Psiphon; do not assume every application is covered. The publisher now labels the Windows app as legacy and says some features in its newer apps are unavailable. Psiphon is a circumvention tool, not a promise of anonymity or guaranteed access on every network.
What it offers
- Access websites and services through the Psiphon circumvention network.
- Automatically configure the Windows system proxy for applications that use those settings.
- Use local HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS proxies with applications configured to support them.
- Run the Windows client from a single EXE without a conventional installation.
Good to know
- Outside VPN mode, only applications using the local HTTP or SOCKS proxies are routed through Psiphon.
- The Windows client is a legacy app; some features in newer Psiphon apps are not supported.
- Psiphon is not a full anonymity tool, and connection performance depends on network conditions.
