What is RustDesk?

RustDesk lets you start or receive remote desktop sessions for computer support and remote access. Connect to another device using its RustDesk ID, with password and permission settings controlling access. You can use RustDesk's public servers or configure the client to use your own RustDesk server instead.

This download is the Windows x64 EXE for version 1.5.0, not the ARM64 build or MSI deployment package. It can be installed or run as a temporary executable. Portable operation has an important Windows restriction: without elevation, UAC prompts can interrupt screen transmission and elevated windows can stop responding to remote mouse input. Requesting elevation during a session requires someone at the remote computer to accept the UAC prompt.

What it offers

  • Start or receive remote desktop sessions using a device ID and configurable access permissions.
  • Use RustDesk public servers or enter your own ID server, relay server and key in Network settings.
  • Configure password options, clipboard synchronization and remote display settings.
  • Run the Windows EXE temporarily or install the client; separate MSI packages support managed deployment.

Good to know

  • The unelevated portable client cannot fully handle UAC prompts or administrator-level windows; requesting elevation remotely still needs someone at the controlled computer to accept UAC.
