What is Samsung Smart Switch?
Samsung Smart Switch for Mac gives Galaxy owners a computer-based way to keep a phone backup and move supported content to another Galaxy phone or tablet. Connect the device by USB, allow access on the phone, and choose the categories to back up. You can later restore the saved data to a connected Galaxy device rather than move each file separately.
The Mac application also offers contact and calendar sync, restoration from an iTunes backup, and prompts for available device software updates. Samsung's current product FAQ lists macOS 10.13 or higher for the desktop application. A backup is not a browsable copy of everything on the phone. Samsung notes that messages in the backup cannot be read on the computer, although they can be read after restoration to the phone. Transfer support also depends on the source device, operating system and connection method. DRM-protected media and some private app data are excluded, so check the categories offered for your device before relying on a transfer.
