What is Scrieb?
Scrieb is a local transcription and meeting-notes app for Mac. Import an existing audio or video file, record your microphone, or capture a meeting app’s audio with your microphone without adding a bot to the call. The publisher says transcription, speaker recognition, summaries and chat run on your computer rather than uploading recordings for processing.
The app uses Whisper models to transcribe more than 90 languages. Search across transcripts and summaries, ask questions about one recording or your library, and edit a transcript before generating its summary. Export the result as DOCX, PDF, plain text or Markdown for work outside the app.
Offline transcription requires a one-time model download. The free plan includes speaker recognition, chat and export formats but allows one hour of recording per day; Pro removes that limit. Tell participants you are recording and obtain consent where required. The publisher lists both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, but the sources checked do not specify a minimum macOS version.
