What is ScummVM?

ScummVM runs supported classic graphical adventure and role-playing games by replacing their original executables. It is a game runtime, not a general-purpose emulator or a bundle of commercial games. It suits players who already have a supported game's data files and want to use them on Windows.

Add a folder containing the required game files to the Launcher, select the game and start it from there. The Launcher offers list and grid views, a search filter and per-game settings that override global settings. The publisher's supported titles include games from the Monkey Island series, Broken Sword and Myst; check the compatibility entry for your particular game and edition before preparing its files.

This entry links to the publisher's ScummVM 2026.4.0 Windows installer, listed for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. The free runtime does not remove the need to obtain the game data legally. Compatibility varies by game and platform, and saved games from the original executable can only be imported for selected titles. The screenshot shows an older settings interface from the source gallery, not a verified view of version 2026.4.0.

What it offers

  • Run supported adventure and role-playing games using their data files instead of the original game executable.
  • Add game folders to a shared Launcher with list and grid views.
  • Filter the game library with the Launcher's search box.
  • Use per-game settings that override the global configuration.

Good to know

  • Game data files must be obtained separately and legally; this download is the runtime, not a commercial game collection.
  • Support depends on the specific game, edition and platform; check the publisher's compatibility list.
  • Saved games created by original game executables are supported only for selected titles.
