What is SecretFolder?
SecretFolder keeps selected folders out of view on a Windows PC. Add a folder to its list, use Lock to hide it and use Unlock to make it visible again. The publisher describes it as free for everyone and lists Windows 2003, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and 11. It is aimed at people who want to manage the visibility of personal folders on a shared computer.
The Remove command removes a folder from the program's list rather than deleting its contents. Password settings are available, but Softonic warns that losing the password can make access and removal difficult. The sources describe folder hiding, not a verified encryption scheme; do not treat hiding as proof that files are encrypted. The publisher screenshot shows an older v4.0 interface, not a verified view of the linked 7.5.0.0 package.
What it offers
- Add selected folders to a managed folder list.
- Hide listed folders with Lock and reveal them with Unlock.
- Remove a folder from the list without deleting the folder's contents.
- Configure a password through the application's settings.
Good to know
- Softonic warns that a lost password can make accessing the program or removing it difficult.
- The inspected sources do not establish an encryption scheme; folder hiding should not be treated as verified file encryption.
