What is seqcli?
seqcli brings Seq logging and administration into scripts and terminal sessions. Use it to send structured events, ingest JSON or plain-text log files, search existing events, follow logs with tail, or run queries against a Seq server. It is useful when a repeatable command fits the job better than working through the server’s interface.
The selected download is Datalust’s Windows x64 ZIP for version 2026.1.02662; Windows ARM64 is a separate release asset. The Seq installer for Windows also includes seqcli, while .NET and Node.js users have additional installation options documented by the publisher. Configure the server URL and API key, or supply them per command or through environment variables. Server operations depend on the connected Seq instance and the permissions granted to the API key: downloading this client does not provide a Seq server or unrestricted access.
On Windows, a copy bundled with Seq can take precedence over an npm-installed copy when both are on PATH. The publisher recommends where seqcli to inspect the resolution order. The screenshot is the publisher’s historical cross-platform terminal example, not a capture of this Windows build.
What it offers
- Send structured log events with seqcli log and import JSON or plain-text log files with ingest.
- Search events, follow incoming logs with tail and run queries from the command line.
- Script Seq administration, including API key, alert and dashboard operations.
- Set server connection details through configuration, command arguments or environment variables.
- Use command-specific help to inspect supported options before adding commands to automation.
Good to know
- Server operations require a reachable Seq instance and appropriate API key permissions; this client is not the Seq server.
- A Seq-bundled executable on PATH may take precedence over an npm-installed copy on Windows.
- The observed publisher sources do not establish a minimum Windows version; the selected archive is x64, not ARM64.
