What is Sequel Ace?
Sequel Ace is a macOS client for working with MySQL and MariaDB database servers. Its connection window lets you choose TCP/IP, socket or SSH connections and organize saved connections into favorites. The Query view provides an editor for SQL, with query favorites and snippets for statements you reuse. You can open separate windows to work with multiple databases.
This entry links to the publisher's Sequel-Ace-6.1.0.zip release asset. The publisher lists macOS 13.5 or later, Intel and Apple Silicon processors, MySQL 5.7 or later and MariaDB 10.0 or later. You need access to a database server; this is a management client, not a replacement for the server. Sandboxing also affects local socket connections: the publisher documents using TCP/IP or placing the socket inside Sequel Ace's container when an external socket cannot be accessed.
What it offers
- Connect to MySQL and MariaDB using TCP/IP, local sockets or SSH connections.
- Save connection favorites and organize them into groups.
- Write SQL in the Query view and reuse query favorites with tab triggers and snippets.
- Open multiple database connections in separate windows.
Good to know
- The publisher's current requirements are macOS 13.5 or later, MySQL 5.7 or later or MariaDB 10.0 or later; older releases have separate compatibility limits.
- Requires access to a MySQL or MariaDB server; it does not replace the database server.
- macOS sandboxing prevents access to socket files outside the app's container. The documented alternatives are a socket located inside the container or a TCP/IP connection.
