What is ShareMouse?
ShareMouse lets you move between computers on the same desk without changing keyboards or mice. Move the pointer to another computer’s monitor to direct mouse and keyboard input there. It works across Windows and Mac systems over a local Wi-Fi or Ethernet network; each computer still needs its own monitor and a running copy of ShareMouse. It is not an internet remote-desktop service and does not share a monitor.
The product also offers clipboard sharing and drag-and-drop file transfer between computers, with feature availability depending on the edition. Password protection and optional AES encryption are available for network traffic.
The free edition is for eligible personal, non-power use. Commercial or organizational use, more than two displays, or features reserved for the paid editions require a license. The demo exposes all paid-edition features for about 30 minutes; restarting the clients starts another evaluation period. This entry links to the publisher’s Windows EXE installer, not the separate portable ZIP.
The screenshot shows an older Windows ShareMouse Preferences interface with password and network encryption options. It illustrates the application rather than documenting the appearance of version 7.0.31.
What it offers
- Switch mouse and keyboard control between computers by moving the pointer to the target monitor.
- Connect Windows and Mac computers through the local Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.
- Share clipboard contents and transfer files by drag and drop, subject to edition limits.
- Configure password protection and optional AES encryption for network traffic.
Good to know
- Requires at least two computers on the same local network, each with its own monitor; it does not work over the internet.
- The free edition excludes commercial or organizational use, setups with more than two displays, and features reserved for paid editions.
- The full-feature demo runs for about 30 minutes before the clients must be restarted to continue evaluating.
