What is SoftPerfect RAM Disk?
SoftPerfect RAM Disk creates virtual drives in your computer's memory that Windows Explorer and other applications can use. It is intended for temporary data, such as a browser cache or intermediate compiler output, when you have RAM available for a separate drive. Its main window lists mounted disks and provides controls for adding and removing drives and working with disk images.
Choose a volatile disk for files that should disappear on shutdown, or associate a disk with an on-disk image to preserve its contents between sessions. Dynamic allocation and TRIM let the application allocate memory on demand and release it when files are deleted. Disk capacity remains limited by the memory available; moving files to RAM does not add physical memory.
Do not treat a volatile RAM disk as permanent storage: its contents disappear when the computer shuts down. Before uninstalling, restore any temporary-directory or cache paths redirected to a RAM disk and save image-backed contents you want to keep.
