What is Stakpak?
Stakpak is an open-source DevOps agent that works from a terminal. The publisher describes workflows for generating infrastructure code, investigating Kubernetes problems, configuring CI/CD and automating deployments. It is aimed at developers and operators who want an AI assistant close to their project files and command-line tools, rather than a graphical Windows administration console.
The selected package is the Windows x86_64 ZIP for version 0.3.88. The Windows guide describes extracting the archive and opening Command Prompt in the extracted directory. Its embedded download link still points to an older release; the download here instead uses the explicit Windows asset on the 0.3.88 release page. The reviewed Windows guide does not establish a minimum Windows version or build.
Model access is a separate setup decision. The current repository documents Stakpak authentication, bring-your-own provider keys and custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints, including local providers. Hosted services have their own access and charging terms; an Apache-2.0 source license does not establish free hosted inference. The included screenshot comes from the publisher’s older Windows installation guide and shows CLI help, not a hands-on test of the selected release.
What it offers
- Work through a terminal-based AI agent for infrastructure and DevOps tasks.
- Use publisher-described workflows for infrastructure code, Kubernetes troubleshooting, CI/CD and deployments.
- Supply operational procedures and playbooks through Stakpak rulebooks.
- Configure Stakpak authentication, model-provider keys or a custom OpenAI-compatible model endpoint as documented in the current repository.
Good to know
- The reviewed Windows guide does not specify a minimum Windows version or build; the selected ZIP is x86_64, not an independently verified ARM64 package.
- Model access requires configuration. Hosted provider availability, credentials and charges are separate from the open-source license.
- The Windows guide’s package link and screenshot are historical. Its older commands should not be treated as current-release instructions; no installation or runtime behavior was tested.
