What is StarUML?
StarUML helps developers describe software structure and behavior before writing or changing code. Build class diagrams for relationships between objects, sequence diagrams for interactions, or use-case diagrams for a system's actors. The same project can also contain database entity-relationship diagrams, flowcharts and C4 models, so different views of a design stay together.
The editor includes a model explorer, diagram tools, light and dark themes, and Markdown documentation for model elements. Mermaid support creates diagrams from text, while JavaScript extensions can add functionality. Code generation for languages such as Java, C#, C++ and Python is available through extensions rather than being a promise that every diagram becomes a working application. Diagrams can be exported to PDF, and models can be shared as HTML documentation.
The Windows download is an EXE installer for Windows 10 or later. StarUML is commercial software, not an unrestricted free edition: the publisher offers a 30-day trial. Standard includes UML, ERD, flowcharts, data-flow diagrams, mind maps, C4 and Mermaid support. SysML, BPMN, UI wireframes and cloud-architecture diagram types require Professional. The publisher screenshot shows its macOS interface; the separately labelled Windows screenshot is a legacy interface, not a preview of version 7.1.1.
