What is Stellarium?

Stellarium turns your Mac into a desktop planetarium. Its 3D sky shows stars, planets and their satellites, nebulae and the Milky Way, with a view intended to resemble what you see with your eyes, binoculars or a telescope. Zoom and time controls let you examine objects and follow changes in the sky. Constellation illustrations and sky cultures provide different ways to interpret the same stars.

The application includes a default star catalogue, with larger optional catalogues available separately. Coordinate grids, eclipse simulation and plugins for telescope control and ocular simulation extend it beyond a simple sky viewer.

This entry links to the publisher's Stellarium 26.3 Qt6 universal ZIP for macOS 11.0 or later. The publisher recommends macOS 12.0 or later; its general minimum-system list also covers other builds, so do not treat the older macOS version in that list as the requirement for this download. The screenshot is a historical publisher interface image, not a capture of the current Mac release.
