What is Stretchly?
Stretchly reminds you to step away from your Mac at regular intervals. It runs from the menu bar and displays a break window with a suggested activity and a countdown. Short Mini breaks and longer breaks have separate schedules, so you can use brief pauses between less frequent extended breaks.
The default schedule is a 20-second Mini break every 10 minutes and a five-minute Long break every 30 minutes. Preferences let you adjust timing, sounds, colors and fullscreen behavior. Breaks pause during detected idle time or Do Not Disturb, and reminders can be postponed or skipped under the configured rules.
This download is the Apple Silicon ARM64 DMG for version 1.22.1, not the separate Intel build. The publisher documents macOS Gatekeeper warnings on first launch; this is not a notarized-app assurance. Some advanced options require editing the JSON preferences file rather than using the graphical settings.
What it offers
- Schedule Mini breaks and Long breaks with separate intervals and durations.
- Show break ideas, a countdown and advance notifications before a break.
- Adjust sounds, colors, language and fullscreen break behavior in Preferences.
- Pause reminders during detected idle time or Do Not Disturb.
- Postpone or skip breaks according to the configured break rules.
Good to know
- The publisher documents Gatekeeper warnings on first launch because the macOS app is not conventionally developer-signed; opening it may require additional user approval.
- Some advanced settings require manual JSON preferences edits, and custom values may not display correctly in the graphical interface.
- The linked ARM64 DMG is for Apple Silicon Macs; Intel Macs need the separate x64 package.
