What is Universal Radio Hacker?

Universal Radio Hacker (URH) helps investigate wireless protocols by connecting signal interpretation with message analysis. It can demodulate signals, detect modulation parameters and apply customizable decodings, including CC1101 data whitening. You can assign protocol fields and message types manually or use rule-based field inference to help structure captured data.

The suite also provides a fuzzing component for stateless protocols and a simulation environment for stateful interactions. Its publisher documents support for common software-defined radios; check the supported-device documentation for your hardware rather than assuming any receiver or transmitter will work.

This entry links to the publisher's version 2.10.0 Windows x64 EXE installer. The publisher states that Windows executables from version 2.9.6 require Windows 10 or later. The original repository was archived on March 29, 2026 and is read-only, so this is a legacy project, not a promise of ongoing maintenance. The accompanying publisher screenshot illustrates the interpretation workflow; its original capture platform and version are not identified.

What it offers

  • Demodulate radio signals with automatic detection of modulation parameters.
  • Apply customizable decodings, including CC1101 data whitening.
  • Assign protocol fields and message types manually or use rule-based field inference.
  • Use a stateless-protocol fuzzing component and a stateful-protocol simulation environment.
  • Work with common software-defined radios documented by the publisher.

Good to know

  • The original repository was archived on March 29, 2026 and is read-only; ongoing maintenance is not established.
  • Windows executables from version 2.9.6 require Windows 10 or later; this download is the x64 build.
