What is UpNote?
UpNote is a personal note-taking app for collecting ideas, drafting text and keeping related notes together. Nested notebooks, hashtags, pinned notes and Quick Access help organize a growing collection. Its editor supports rich text and Markdown, while Focus mode hides the surrounding note lists and menus for writing.
You can read and write offline. An UpNote account enables automatic sync across supported devices; without an account, notes remain on the local device. The free tier includes basic features and up to 50 notes. Premium adds unlimited notes, attachments, tables, locking and export to text, PDF, HTML or Markdown. The publisher says Premium must be purchased in the Mac, iOS or Android app, then synced to Windows through your account.
This entry links to the publisher's standalone Windows EXE installer. The installation guide warns against using it if UpNote is already installed from Microsoft Store. UpNote does not currently offer end-to-end encryption; a note lock should not be treated as that protection.
What it offers
- Organize notes with nested notebooks, hashtags, pinned notes and Quick Access.
- Write with rich text and Markdown support, or hide navigation in Focus mode.
- Read and edit offline; sync across devices when signed in to an UpNote account.
- Use Premium for attachments, tables, note locking and text, PDF, HTML or Markdown export.
Good to know
- The free tier allows up to 50 notes with basic features; unlimited notes and advanced features require paid Premium.
- Premium upgrades are not available in the Windows app; purchase on Mac, iOS or Android and sync the entitlement through an UpNote account.
- End-to-end encryption is not supported, according to the publisher's FAQ.
- Do not use the standalone installer if UpNote is already installed from Microsoft Store, according to the publisher's installation guide.
