What is UVtools?

UVtools works with sliced files for MSLA and DLP resin printers. Use it to inspect a print layer by layer, review the settings stored in a file, and look for issues such as islands, overhangs, resin traps and suction cups before printing. Its editing and repair tools let you modify layers and address detected problems where supported.

It also provides calibration tests and conversion between supported sliced-file formats, including workflows that start with a PrusaSlicer SL1 file. Check your target printer and file format before converting: the publisher notes that settings unsupported by the destination format are ignored. Issue detection and repair are not a guarantee of a successful physical print.

The linked package is the publisher’s Windows x64 MSI for version 7.1.2. Windows ARM64 and portable ZIP packages are listed separately. The screenshot is the publisher’s Windows x64 interface example from version 7.0.0, not a capture of this installer running.

What it offers

  • View, modify and extract individual layers and file thumbnails.
  • Inspect and edit print properties stored in supported sliced files.
  • Detect islands, overhangs, resin traps, suction cups, empty layers and other documented issues; repair or remove them where possible.
  • Convert between supported sliced-file formats, including SL1-based workflows.
  • Generate calibration tests for resin-printing workflows.

Good to know

  • Settings unsupported by the destination file format are ignored during conversion; check the target format’s capabilities.
  • The publisher lists a 64-bit system, 8 GB RAM plus 512 MB per CPU core, and a 1920 × 1080 display at 100% scale as minimum requirements.
  • Windows 10/11 N and NK editions require the Media Feature Pack.
