What is Virtual Serial Port Driver?

Virtual Serial Port Driver creates virtual COM port pairs for developing and debugging serial software without a physical null-modem cable. Applications can open either end of a pair and exchange serial data, while Windows Device Manager lists the virtual interfaces alongside hardware ports. This makes it useful when a computer has no physical serial ports or its available ports are already occupied.

The Standard edition focuses on paired ports, emulating baud rate, flow control and hardware signal lines. It also supports custom port names and null-modem pinouts. PRO adds more complex routing: splitting a port into several virtual interfaces, joining incoming streams, merging ports into bundles and automatically switching between available connected devices. These are edition-specific capabilities, not features promised for every license.

The publisher offers a fully functional 14-day trial and paid licenses for continued use. The linked EXE is exposed on its official product page. The version and release date below describe the publisher’s advertised release; the executable was not downloaded, installed or inspected.

What it offers

  • Create virtual COM port pairs linked by an emulated null-modem cable.
  • Expose virtual interfaces in Windows Device Manager for serial applications.
  • Emulate baud rate, HandFlow control, serial line breaks and standard hardware signal lines.
  • Choose predefined or custom port names and null-modem pinouts.
  • PRO edition: split or join serial streams, merge port bundles and use automatic port switching.

Good to know

  • The fully functional trial lasts 14 days; continued use requires a paid license.
  • Splitting, joining, merging and automatic switching are PRO features, not part of the Standard edition feature set.
