What is WebStorm?
WebStorm is JetBrains’ IDE for JavaScript and TypeScript development. It brings context-aware code completion, project navigation, refactoring, debugging, and integrated developer tools into one workspace. Built-in support covers HTML, CSS, React, Angular, Vue, and Node.js, so it suits working across a web application rather than editing individual files in isolation.
Use code inspections to find issues as you type, jump from symbols to their declarations, and rename symbols across a project. The integrated debugger supports client-side JavaScript and Node.js, while unit-test integrations, a terminal, and version-control tools keep common development tasks in the editor. These are publisher-described capabilities, not results of an independent software test.
The linked WebStorm 2026.2.3 disk image is for Intel Macs. JetBrains distributes a separate Apple Silicon build; this download is not that package. The publisher’s installation guide lists macOS 15 and 26, 8 GB total RAM with 3 GB available for IDE processes, and 10 GB of disk space.
Free use is limited to non-commercial work under JetBrains’ terms. Activating that license requires a JetBrains Account and an internet connection. Commercial use has a 30-day trial before a paid license is needed. The Mac gallery image shows an older WebStorm interface, not a verified capture of version 2026.2.3; the additional publisher debugging image illustrates shared IDE functionality on Windows.
What it offers
- Context- and type-aware completion for JavaScript and TypeScript, with HTML, CSS, and web-framework support.
- Navigate to declarations and usages, search project files, and refactor symbols across a codebase.
- Debug client-side JavaScript and Node.js with breakpoints, stepping, and watches.
- Run and debug unit tests with integrations including Jest, Mocha, and Vitest.
- Use integrated version-control tools, a terminal, and npm, Yarn, or pnpm support.
Good to know
- Non-commercial licensing does not cover commercial work; a paid license is required after the commercial trial.
- Free non-commercial activation requires a JetBrains Account and an internet connection.
- This linked DMG is the Intel build; Apple Silicon Macs require the separate ARM64 package.
