What is XAMPP?
XAMPP brings an Apache web server, MariaDB database, PHP and Perl together for local web development on a Mac. It suits working on PHP applications before deployment, with phpMyAdmin available for database administration. The native OS X edition installs its components directly on the Mac rather than running them inside the separate XAMPP-VM Linux virtual machine.
The publisher documents a DMG installation under /Applications/XAMPP and a manager-osx control application for starting and stopping the servers. This entry identifies the archived 8.2.4-0 native DMG; it does not imply a new release or verified compatibility with current macOS versions or Apple Silicon.
Use XAMPP as a development environment, not as a public production server. Apache Friends explicitly warns that the open development configuration is unsuitable for production.
