What is Yaak?
Yaak is a desktop API client for organizing requests, sending them to your services and inspecting the responses. Workspaces stay on your machine without requiring an account. Folders and environment variables help separate projects and switch between development, staging and production endpoints. You can bring existing work across from Postman, Insomnia, Bruno, OpenAPI, Swagger or curl instead of recreating each request.
For collaboration, Yaak can mirror requests and environments to local YAML files and use Git for sharing and version control. This is not automatic cloud synchronization: choose a Git repository or synced folder when sharing work. The prebuilt Windows app is free for personal use, but work-related use requires a commercial license after the 30-day trial. The download here is the x64 EXE installer for version 2026.9.0, not the separate ARM64 or machine-wide package.
What it offers
- Send HTTP, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket and Server-Sent Events requests.
- Organize local workspaces with nested folders and environment variables.
- Import Postman, Insomnia and Bruno collections, OpenAPI or Swagger specifications, and curl commands.
- Mirror requests and environments to YAML files for sharing and version control through Git.
- Use template functions, response inspection and authentication options including OAuth 2.0.
Good to know
- Prebuilt binaries require a commercial license for work-related use after the 30-day trial; free use is for personal projects.
- Workspaces do not automatically sync through a Yaak cloud service; sharing requires a Git workflow, synced folder or export.
