What is KeeperFX?
KeeperFX recreates and expands Dungeon Keeper for Windows while retaining the original dungeon-management game. It is aimed at players who already own Dungeon Keeper and want its original campaign with modernized controls, higher resolutions and fan-made content. Additional campaigns, maps, creatures and modding options extend the game beyond that campaign.
The linked download is the complete KeeperFX 1.4.0 portable 7z archive, not an alpha patch or the separate online installer. Extract it into its own folder and use the launcher to locate the required files from a legal Dungeon Keeper CD or an installed digital edition. KeeperFX's open-source license does not provide ownership of the original game assets.
Windows 10 and 11 users can use the current launcher. The project also lists Windows 7 support, but its installation documentation directs older Windows systems to the legacy launcher or the game executable. Updates can break existing saved games; the publisher recommends finishing games before updating and installing a new release separately rather than mixing versions.
