What is Yana?

Yana is a local notebook app for organizing related notes rather than keeping everything in one long document. Its hierarchical structure lets you nest material by project or topic, rearrange it with drag-and-drop, and use tags and full-text search to find it again. Multiple local workspaces separate different collections of work, while tabs let you keep several notes open.

Choose rich-text notes for formatted writing, tables and documentation, or the code-snippet editor when the material is source code. The publisher identifies the code editor as based on the editor frontend used by Visual Studio Code; that does not make Yana a complete development environment. Star notes you return to often, and use the trashcan for discarded items. Release 1.0.16 adds a Markdown export option for workspaces.

The linked download is the publisher's Windows EXE installer for version 1.0.16, whose release was published on April 2, 2023. The publisher confirms Windows availability but does not state a minimum Windows version in the reviewed README or release metadata. Softonic lists Windows 11; this is a catalog specification, not an installation test. The screenshot shows an older Windows 1.0.13 session from the project's issue tracker, with the rich-text editor and an Insert file panel open; it is not a screenshot of a newly tested installation.
