What is SCREEN View?
SCREEN View provides a graphical interface for SCREEN3, the U.S. EPA screening air dispersion model. It helps environmental modelers estimate worst-case ground-level concentrations from a single source, including cavity-zone concentrations and effects associated with inversion break-up and shoreline fumigation. This is a specialized modeling tool, not a general air-quality monitor.
Set up simple or complex terrain, choose discrete or automated distances, and include building downwash where appropriate. The publisher describes metric and English-unit inputs, a terrain height viewer, parameter checks, and output available as text and automatically generated XY plots of concentration against downwind distance. These are publisher-described capabilities, not results from an independent software run.
The official product page offers version 4.0.1 as a self-extracting Windows installer. Although the software is freeware, using it requires registration and an activation code that the publisher says is emailed within 24 hours. Lakes Software does not provide technical support for its freeware products. The accompanying publisher screenshot is labeled Screen View 3.0.0 in its title bar; it illustrates the terrain interface rather than documenting the appearance of version 4.0.1.
What it offers
- Use a graphical interface for the U.S. EPA SCREEN3 single-source screening model.
- Configure simple or complex terrain, building downwash, and discrete or automated distances.
- Enter model data in metric or English units and inspect terrain in the Terrain Height Viewer.
- View output in text form and automatically generated XY plots of concentration versus downwind distance.
- Check input parameters with built-in error and warning messages.
Good to know
- Registration and an emailed activation code are required; the publisher states delivery within 24 hours, not instant activation.
- The publisher does not offer technical support for its freeware products.
