What is Nyrna?
Nyrna temporarily suspends a running game or application so you can resume it later without closing it. It is useful for single-player games without a convenient pause option, or for stopping a render, video encode or compilation while another task needs CPU and GPU resources.
With Nyrna running, press Pause to toggle suspension for the active window, or change the shortcut in settings. The graphical interface also supports application-specific hotkeys; Windows users can toggle the active window from the command line with .\nyrna.exe --toggle.
Suspension is not a saved session: the application still occupies RAM, and Nyrna cannot save its state to disk for restoration after a reboot. The publisher warns that manipulating running applications can cause crashes. Save your work or game before using it.
This entry links to the version 2.27.2 Windows EXE installer from the official project releases. The publisher also offers a separate portable ZIP. Exact minimum Windows build and processor architecture were not established from the sources used here.
What it offers
- Suspend and resume games and ordinary desktop applications without closing them.
- Toggle the active window with the Pause key or a configurable shortcut.
- Set separate application-specific hotkeys through the graphical settings.
- Use the Windows command line with .\nyrna.exe --toggle.
- Temporarily stop CPU/GPU work from tasks such as rendering, video encoding or compilation.
Good to know
- Suspended applications retain their RAM allocation; this is not a memory-cleaning tool.
- Suspension cannot be saved to disk for restoration after a reboot.
- Suspending or resuming an application can cause it to crash; save data or game progress first.
